    Hi Antsiou,

I've just joined LFGSS and have the same dilemma as you. I have an old single speed which needs replacing and the Surly Steamroller is probably going to be my choice. I've looked at the Cotic Roadrat, Salsa Casseroll and Singular Peregrine and Steelwool Sweet City Ltd. You might want to check some of those out if you haven't already. I've tried all of them except the Steelwool and they are all great bikes but I keep coming back to the Surly, don't know why! Like you it's a choice between a built 'roller and then replacing some of the parts or building a frame up from scratch. So far, I'm finding it very difficult to build a really budget version that comes near the fully built price.

I'd be interested to know what you'e decided to do and maybe we can swap ideas on parts and where to get them?

    Cheers,

    Endo
