My bad.

Tried to take us from Ubuntu Jaunty to Ubuntu Karmic, and this worked... except the hosting company host machines don't support the Karmic kernel so none of the servers came to life after the upgrade.

Unfortunately this mornings backup was still in progress when I upgraded. It should have been completed but there's a backlog at the host... end result: The daily backup was corrupt.

So I've had to fall back upon the weekly backup, which was taken around 8am last Sunday (25th October). And I've restored all of the servers from that point in time.

So... what's happened?
1. Upgrade trashed servers
2. Daily backup was corrupt so useless
3. I applied the weekly backup
4. We've lost 5 days worth of everything

And that is where we are.

Did you say anything interesting in the last 5 days? If so, say it again.

Did you register in the last 5 days and now are wondering why you're blocked? You're not... you just don't exist, please do register again.

Huge apologies for this. I wasn't thorough enough. I did check that the backups were done, but only checked 2 out of the 3 servers and the most important one was the one I missed.

I've made a note, all future upgrades happen on Monday so that should things go nuts I only ever have to rollback 1 day at worst, 1 hour at best.
