Old-fashioned cycling shoes and cleats
Posted 7th September 2008 at 09:48 by Condorfix
Tried clipless on fixed bike. Not comfortable in London traffic. Have switched to very light MKS, Brooks toe clips and straps. Now the problem: which shoes? MTB shoes too clunky round the front and won't connect with little "lip" on pedal to flip it into place to slide foot in. Using old SPD carbon mix sole Shimanos without cleats. But anyone remember the old-fashioned racing and touring shoes with old-fashioned cleats? Anyone know if you can still buy these, and where? Thanks

| | Hiya.....having the same trouble...try ebay...if you ahve small feet you might get lucky....45/10...so not so easy...or try..WWW.reynoldsshoes.co.uk....but pricy at £90...but very good or http://www.williamlennon.co.uk/footw...tml......these are much cheaper but with thermoplastic soles cannot take traditional shoe plates....a third solution.....bit long winded.....is a traditional cleat which bolts onto Look shoe fittings...ie modern road shoes......[a] you need something like a sidi which has a low and soft toe box and [b] you get the cleats [sadly from the USA....not seen them in the UK] at Yellow Jersey......http://www.yellowjersey.org/tocleat.html I hope this is useful I like your avatar! cheers......Leon |
