Thread prefixes can be searched, so by using them for classifieds stuff you are allowing your stuff to be found on the Advanced Search page.

Which prefix to use?

Buying/Selling

"For Sale:" - When you want to sell something.
"Wanted:" - When you want to buy something.

Trading

"Trade:" - When you'll only let go of something providing you get something.

Buy/Sell/Trade

"Offered:" - When you want to offer something for trade or sale depending on what the other person has.

Giving stuff away

"Freecycle:" - When you just want rid of something... onus on the receiver to collect or pay postage... zero money for the item being given away.
